Lux is intended for children with Cerebral Palsy but it is also beneficial for young children without any disability. It encourages development in different areas, such as eye-hand coordination, cognitive skills, attention, independent skills and fine motor skills, mainly hand function. The product provides learning through play with a cause-and-effect reward through lighting. This learning device is versatile because it can be used in various ways and since the lighting is battery operated, it can be used anywhere.

It can be used as a whole device by choosing the set of panels according to your learning goal. Either the numbers panel set for teaching numbers and value, or the 2D shapes set for shape recognition and the alphabet set for letter recognition. All these sets can also be used for colour recognition. Slide the chosen panel set in the slots provided in the structure. Let the child fit the letters/numbers/shapes into the current opening. Thus, the letter pushes the switch and it lights up.

The panels can be used separately from the structure as flashcards. The Perspex letter/numbers/shapes can be used separately for colour recognition and sorting for number/shape/letter recognition. They can be used as stencils, enabling the child to trace inside the shape. They can also be used for a tactile activity by putting materials of different textures which the child can feel by tracing with the finger.
